Hi, and welcome to Sew Blue Thread. Summer is fast approaching here and today, we have an unusual day of rain. What better time is there than to do some sewing plus a little message on the side. All I need is the obliging cat to come and sit on my lap, and that would complete the sewing experience.
Today, I would like to introduce a new quilt block pattern This pattern named ‘Vintage Lace 201 has been inspired by my childhood home. Growing up with Dutch influence, my mum would crochet away beautiful intricate lengths of white lace night after night. The memories of home, are of handmade lace hanging on each window of each room in the house. Intricate lace was neatly stitched onto bed linen, as a decorative border. (which I took to camp on several occasions). What a memory! There was no end (it seemed) where these lace curtains would be placed in the house. There were even round lace doilies pinned onto boards drying in the sun after an annual wash. The boards were spread around the garden catching sunlight and a chance to dry.
On my pattern notebook, ‘Vintage Lace 201’, has been one of my favourites for a while, because of what it represents.
Vintage Lace 201, a unique pattern, can be made into a table runner, or used as individual blocks added to quilt projects. When stitching more than one block, they can be matched together to give the lace appeal. The simple pattern instructions, also provide diagrams to complete the quilt block. Here’s one of mums window decorations…
So until next time,
Have fun sewing.
