Hi, and welcome to Sew Blue Thread. EEEEeeeee! Finally it’s here!
Thank you for joining me on this journey of hosting my first Quilt-a-long. I’m excited to begin this week stitching the ‘To the Sky’ quilt block.
Here is what the finished Sky Series Quilt will look like after all the quilt blocks have been completed.
If you don’t have a pattern and would like one, you can find the Sky Series QAL pattern here.
All the step-by-step written instructions including fabric requirements, notions, are all outlined in the pattern.
To start with, cut out the fabric pieces and lay them out to see where all the pieces are placed.
Cut and stitch the top of the rocket.
Stitch together upper rocket unit, and begin the bottom part.
Stitch the 2 units together.
Stitch the rocket body unit to the top unit.
Complete the rocket flames according to the pattern.
Lay out the pieces to see what the finished top will look like. Stitch seams together.
Stitch each of the fuel booster units together, and then,
stitch the flames unit to the main rocket body.
Finally, stitch the left and right units of the rocket to complete the ‘To the Sky’ quilt block.
So this finishes the first week of 3 weeks. Thank you for joining me. If you wish to go ahead and start on next weeks pattern, we will be making the ‘Sky High’ quilt block.
So until then, have fun sewing.
Marsha.
