Hi, and welcome to Sew Blue Thread, ‘Sky Series Quilt-a-long. Last week we started making the first ‘To the Sky’ quilt block in the 3 part Sky Series Quilt-Along. Today, I have the second of 3 quilt blocks ready to go. The block we’re making today, is ‘Sky High’ quilt block, and it measures 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2 “. If you missed out on last weeks post, check out ‘To the Sky’ blog post here.
So let’s get started with todays ‘Sky High’ quilt block.
To begin with, cut out the fabric pieces
and place on the table to get an idea where all the pieces go.
Stitch a half square triangle onto the fabric rectangle.
If you are using charm pack square fabric, then follow the instructions on
how to extend the jet plane body from a 5″ length to a 6 1/2″ length.
Place the fabric pieces together to see where to stitch.
Stitch the upper wing, and tail units together.
Now, stitch the lower wing units together.
So there it is…a completed Sky High Quilt block in the Sky Series Quilt Along.
Next week we will be making the final block in the series, which is the ‘Sky Float’ quilt block.
So until then, have fun sewing.
Marsha.
