‘Sweet Twist’ baby blanket-FREE Pattern

Hi, and welcome to Sew Blue Thread.

When making a quilting pattern, it looks so easy on paper. Then the hard part comes, when the fabric is measured, cut and stitched together.   This becomes a personal challenge.   Lining up the corners, matching fabrics, lining up fabric lengths, and making sure the right sides are facing together.

The pattern that I’m releasing today, was another personal challenge.   ‘Sweet Twist’ baby blanket is my latest quilting pattern.   Each block in the design, represents an unravelled sweet lolly wrapper.

The top and binding of the baby blanket was made using 1 charm pack and 2 fat quarters.

‘Sweet Twist’ baby quilt.  Measures 22″ x 27″

The fabric chosen, is Tilda, ‘Tiny Treasures’ charm pack.

‘Sweet Twist’ is a free downloadable pattern, and together with this post, there are enough pictures to show how each step is done.

Started by cutting out 1 1/2 ” squares of white fabric.

Cut out the fabric A rectangles, fabric B small rectangles, and fabric C squares.

Stitch on the diagonal lines drawn onto the white fabric squares

(according to the instructions).

I use a drawn line on my machine to help guide the fabric.

Stitch fabric, and press, ready to add the 2nd white fabric square.

Stitch along the diagonal line.

Chain piece the units together.

Trim 1/4 ” seam using the rotary cutter, although scissors are just as good.

Stitch all the pieces together (according to instructions).

Stitch and press all 20 squares.  Now lay them all out and stitch together.

Almost finished!
