Hi and welcome to Sew Blue Thread.
If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s been pretty hot lately over the Summer season. There’s just no escaping it. Except for need to visit shops, only to enjoy the air conditioners.
If only the rain were more frequent, then it would break up the hot, balmy days. This idea inspired me to put together a new pattern. The pattern started out because of my love for spots and dots on fabric, however, the rain was talked about so much around the house, so my pattern then became an idea of falling rain. I really wanted to capture the idea that the spots/rain were randomly placed, instead of a predictable pattern. When the blocks are pieced together, they uniquely fall into their own space.
This brings me to my latest quilt pattern.
Rain
As seen from a distance, this pattern has a typical look of disorder. Plenty of jumbled rain squares, however, each block is very much ordered, and structured.
Here I have made a ‘Rain’ baby blanket. This size is 41″ x 29″. The fabric chosen is from Kate Spain’s collection ‘Latitude’ for Moda fabrics. It was the beautiful batik fabrics that I liked.
The binding was made from left over fabric colours.
Top stitched in random directions
First time for stitching the binding.
Rain is an easy to follow pattern with lots of illustrations. The Rain pattern takes 1 charm pack, 3 white fat quarters, plus remaining charm pack colours for the binding.
You can find ‘Rain’ –>here<–.
If you like this pattern, you might also like to try other patterns

So until next time.
Happy sewing
